Does anyone have a good pic of the proper retaining pin, keeper or clip that goes thru the ends of the shackle pins on the front and rear lifting brackets that keeps them from falling out.

Here's my original, which matches the photo of the "type 1" in Ryan's reference guide:
And here's one off an M151 that I used to replace the missing ones.
Seems a pretty close match.

I was in Home Depot yesterday and found that they have pins that look like the second type above. They're in the pull out parts boxes located in the hardware section of the store. They call them safety pins. As usual, the quality probably isn't the best so if you want one with a better finish and a good dichromate coating then get them from MidWest or someone like that. But if you just want to hold everything together temporary then these should do. |

Yes, I have seen those but they are pretty thin guage wire. I have some heavy wire and will just be bending my own against the pic Owen provided. _________________ Brett

They turned out a little different shaped but are functional.

Are those type pins also used in the M38A1? Just about every example I've seen just uses a cotter pin.
Nice shackle brackets BTW..

I found those type of clips a pita to put on and remove. I took them off and made some that were easier to work with. _________________ Tropical Veteran

I didn't find them being too hard to remove. Anyway, I don't plan on removing them that much. I also made a left and right, so they mirror each other. That way they are the same in the way they go on/off.
Got a pic of yours? _________________ Brett

Just watching the bad weather in Oklahoma...
I've had to take mine off from time to time to put on the tow bar. and have also had to attach a tow strap. Those short pins are rough on my fingers. I don't have photo right now. _________________ Tropical Veteran
