Hi all,

OK, so I have to buy new windshield glass. When I went to the local glass place, the woman quoted me a price for a light green tinted glass @ $75/side. Now that I know this is a decent price, I am wondering about the tint. Was the original glass tinted? Do they even make an untinted safety glass (I didn't even think to ask)? Does it matter? The good piece of glass that I have is tinted, but this could be a replacement also. I uploaded some new pics to my gallery last night - check them out - I'm getting closer!

I believe the original was untinted. Tinted doesn't work well for night driving with blackouts on.

Note the manual specifies 1/4" thick.

1/4" thick - didn't see that in the manual(of course I don't think I was looking for it either) - and untinted. Thanks Wes!

When I went and got new glass for my M-38, They asked if I wanted CLEAR instead of tinted, I said definatly as that was original... Took them less than two hours to cut it and put it in (With the lock to the rear per my request)... It cost me about $100, but was well worth the trouble and expense...

Part of the cost is the fact they have to cut the glass to fit, as opposed to ordering it...

Hope this helps...

$100 - was that for both sides, installed? I'm really not ready to put the glass in - haven't painted the frame yet, so I'll just get the glass cut. I'll have to call them tomorrow. Thanks!

Mine was a ONE piece M-38 Frame... So yours may be a little higher...
