I went to the downloads page for info on a Autolite Voltage regulator in a M38, and anything there did not match what I have Part no. VBC-4004UT. I need the gauge gaps for it anyone know?

With the Auto-Lite/Prestolite stuff the core number xxx4002xx grows as the new improved versions come out. The TM 9-1825B was last dated 1952.

In addition to the specific measurements you asked for there are a few tests that are slightly different as well on the 4004 version. They can be found on the Prestolite service letters I have on my photo page.

Circuit Breaker
Armature core gap = .066 to .070
Contact point gap = .047 min.

Voltage Regulator
Armature core gap = .052 to .056 on VBC4004UT date code before 12X.
Armature core gap = .057 to .060 " " " " 12X and on.

Current regulator
Armature core gap = .052 to .056 on VBC4004UT date code before 12X.
Armature core gap = .057 to .060 " " " " 12X and on.

Wes, There's no way I can read that, so I'll wait until I get some printer ink and try that.

You click on the thumbnail and you'll get the half size photo. Then you click on the photo being displayed and you'll get the full size photo in a pop up window.
