I may be in the market for a ramsey Pto winch, (civilian versian). I have a Ramsey PTO that came with the jeep and the long straight shaft and bearing as well. All I would need is the winch and the mounting brackets. How much can I expect to pay for something like this? |

About $75 to $200 depending on condition. You may have to custom build a mount and fair lead assemblt to fit the M38's original mounting holes. Which Ramsey PTO do you have? The civvy PT1 or PT1J doesn't fit well with the stock M38 exhaust. The Ramsey 105A made just for the M38 does.
As you can see from the photos there is a significant difference where the front winch drive shaft fits with these two PTO's.
This is the exhaust location with either of the long PTO's by Ramsey or Koenig.
This is the military 105A PTO. It tucks the drive shaft in close to the tranny and allows the exhaust to stay in it's original location. _________________ Wes K

It is the civilian pto. If I end up with a winch I will carry the jeep to an exhaust shop and have them fit my pipes correctly. |

I have one mounted on my M38 that isn't used. I'm not sure what's entailed in removing it, but if it's worth the effort I'll make it available. It's located in central NC.

It's a Ramsey and I'll get out to check the model this weekend. Not sure what I want as I wasn't trying to sell it. I offered it if it helps some one and the trouble doesn't exceed the value.

Best I can show is the PTO on my M38 appears to be the following:

This pic is courtesy of Wes and not the one currently in the vehicle. Best effort to read tag is futile while mounted, but the tag is present and the casting numbers match those pictured.
Sorry I can't provide more. Mike |
