the filter canister cover on eBay measures 5 inches in diameter ( asked the seller) . My canister cover measures 5 1/2 inches which is the correct size for the military standard. Also, my filter canister has dimples on the bottom. It also takes a NAPA 1100 filter which is also correct for the military standard filter canister. So I do not have a cj2a filter canister on my m170. _________________ Gary Keating

I am reluctant to say without actual positive evidence that any cover is correct or not correct that fits the military junior filter. The Army has a habit of seeking numerous suppliers to supply parts to a common spec over the last 60 years. The unmarked covers could easily be a new cover procured in the field from a supply system that has no need to keep things factory original.
As for Wee Bee's M-170 I do not believe that having an example of a part installed on a nicely restored jeep is without any doubt proof that the part is the correct original for that application.
Some day one of us will stumble across the blue print used for the Willys/Kaiser installed military junior filter detailing the appearance of the lid and a factory production line BOM to establish what stocks of juniors were used. Hint-----Keith B. _________________ Wes K
