One suggestion I would offer, is to move the fuel filter to before the fuel pump. If you are really experiencing crud in the fuel it can and will foul the valves in the fuel pump.
Looks like a fairly early M38. I cant quite tell but looks like it still retains the firewall mounted ignition filter? Nice. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
When you get that extra fuel filter before the pump where it should be make sure you dump all that hose so close to the exhaust manifold and put the correct steel fuel line back there between the pump and carb bowel inlet. The M38 had two different steel line routings. The original was very close to the exhaust manifold and cause vapor lock. The later rerouted the steel tube further away.
