Does anyone have a good photo of the inside of the under hood battery box? I cannot find one in any of the manuals I have. There are 4 tabs inside of on the bottom of the box which appear to have been beaten flat to accomdate a larger battery. I believe these are suppose to stick straight up and the correct size battery (2HN) fits between them.

Thanks

there is a battery tray that goes inside the metal box and the battery sits on this tray, not the floor of the box itself. Without taking mine apart I forget how the tray and box fit, but the j hooks hold both the box, batttery, and battery tray to the frame bracket.

I have the tray........my tray appears to have 4 metal "ears" that have been beaten flat. I think these are supposed to be standing up and the battery fits between them

Those 4 tabs are for bolting the box tray to the box. Here's the photo from Midwest Mil's page.

Thanks Wes...........I just took a look at Johns page and he has a photo of the M38 cowl battery box broken down. And my thinking was right.........the tabs on the tray are supposed to be up to help hold the batteries in place

Thanks again
