THIS IS A M38A1 CARBURETOR. THERE IS A STORY BEHIND THIS CARB. I HAD THIS USED CARB AS A SPARE FOR YEARS. A FRIEND OF MINE HAD A RECENTLY REBUILT M38 CARB THAT DIDN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY ON A JEEP.
HE BOUGHT IT OVER TO ME TO LOOK AT IT. WE TOOK THE SECTIONS APART AND REALIZED THAT THE CENTER SECTION HAD A BIGGER BORE THAT THE BOTTOM SECTION. I TOOK MY SPARE M38A1 CARB (THE ONE BEING SOLD) OUT TO CHECK OUT ITS BORE SIZE. TO OUR AMAZEMENT MY M38A1 CARB HAD A SMALL BORE M38 CENTER SECTION ON IT. (THEY DO EASILY INTERCHANGE, BUT WON'T WORK). WE SIMPLY MADE TWO CORRECT CARBS BY TRADING CENTER SECTIONS.

NOW TO THE M38A1 CARB FOR SALE. THE CENTER SECTION HAS NEW ALL REBUILT PARTS, IN IT. DIAPHRAMS, SPRINGS, NEEDLE VALVE, GASKETS, ETC. THE ONLY QUESTIONABLE PART WOULD BE WHETHER THE CARB HAS A M38 OR A M38A1 METERING ROD. I WOULD SUSPECT A M38 BUT DON'T HAVE A M38A1 METERING ROD TO COMPARE. IF THATS THE CASE, A M38A1 METERING ROD WILL NEED TO BE INSTALLED.I DO NOT RECALL ANY OTHER DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE M38 AND M38A1 PARTS.
( I MAY BE WRONG ON THAT!!)

THATS THE STORY!!!!

REGARDLESS, THE CARBURETOR IS CLEAN, COMPLETE, AND CAN BE USED AS A GOOD CORE, OR CHECK IT OUT AND INSTALL METERING ROD IF NEEDED.

$250.00 PLUS SHIPPING.

AFTER A CHECK WITH AN OLD M38 METERING ROD, IT LOOKS LIKE THATS WHAT IS IN THIS CARB
