My M38A1D has a metal tag riveted to the right side dash. It's about 1X2inches and looks hand stamped. It has two lines, top line,CM 2.bottom line 57 70.Regular data tag show mfg.date 08/52,tho jeep title says jeep is a 1957.Anyone seen this,or similar.

Don,
Post a photo of your dash plates. The one you describe sounds like a simple unit property plate whuch were locally assigned to some vehicles. The delivery date I can cionfirm when I see your whole serial data plate. Try posting a photo of the patent plate on the front end of the right rear wheel house behind the pass seat.
