Not a normal supplier review....

Post by idiocrates »

....but I wanted to give credit where credit is due. After deciding to take on the rebuild of my dana 44 rear axle (even without the proper tools and brains) it looked like the only thing I was lacking was the Prussian Blue marking compound used to analyze the pinion gear set up. Everyone from NAPA to Advanced Auto Parts to O'Reilly's to Auto Zone to even Alamo Iron Works had told me the stuff was obsolete and unavailable. Which makes me wonder....does anybody do this kind of mechanic'ing anymore???.....but anyway....a quick search of the Permatex web site showed that they still manufacturered it.....it was just that none of the listed distributors opted to carry it anymore. Enter Grainger. Despite not being listed as a Permatex distributor I thought maybe they might carry something equal to the Prussian Blue. A site search of their catalog produced positive results. Turns out Grainger not only carries Permatex Prussian Blue....but has it in-stock! I promptly ordered myself two tubes. That was on Tuesday. Yesterday......Thursday......my order arrived......and all I had asked for in my order was normal ground delivery. Grainger got the order.....processed the product out the door.....and delivered it to my hot little chubby hand....all within 48 hrs!! And the really amazing thing......all this performance for an order that didn't even add up to ten dollars....inlcuding tax!!! Way to go, Grainger.....I'm happy.....impressed.....and ready to go fit me up some gears!!! Thanks.
Jim

Sounds like service to me!

I hate it when you go somewhere and they say "that isn't made anymore or we don't have it" when they don't even look it up because they have no idea what you are talking about and don't want to look stupid.
