M38A1 DOD 12/64

Post by spec4don »

Hi to all, this is my first post (I think) I've been working on a halftrack but about 2 years ago I found this M38A1 on a halftrack hunt. It is in really good shape and it is a Marine Corps radio jeep MRC-83.

According to the guy I bought it from the engine had been "rebuilt" but never installed back into the jeep. It also had a transfer case with a rear mount PTO. Turns out the engine had been rebuilt! So have decided to put it back together and because it is so straight and clean I'm going leave it as it is and not do a frame up. I do have another rolling chassis so it has all the parts I'm missing on mine. I even have a lot of the under the hood radio stuff as well as all the gauges and switches on the dash.

It has had some stuff replaced over the years as I believe it has early front fenders. and the horn and black out have Douglas connectors on it

Anyway here is a link to my album over at the G:

Are the linked photos all of the 64 MRC jeep? Do you have any photos of the dash serial plate and the patent plate behind the passenger seat?

Yes they are all the same jeep. The dash plate has the aluminum tags and are completely washed out. Except the serial number tag. I'll have to look and see if there is a patenet plate. I don't remember seeing it when I pressure washed the jeep.

Now mine is a Kiaser Jeep would it have the patent plate?
