Thinking of maybe selling the m38

Post by Bill_F »

I dont know if this is the right section but I thought I would post this hear. I am thinking of selling my m38 to buy a jeep that is already on the road, I just dont have the time to work on my jeep. I have all the parts to put it back together except for a windshield. It has a brand new paint job on it all though not that good of one but would work for now.

Engine is rebuilt as well as the rest of the drivetrain. Body has had new front floors and hat channel. New wirring harness started to go in. Engine has run once since rebuild. Have a set of NDCC for it, used but still in good shape. Has a complete 4000lbs ramsey pto winch. What I wanted is an approximate asking price, and to see if anyone might be interested in the jeep.

Bill,

Are you sure you want to sell her? You have been making some great progress. If the winch is slowing you up, you can always hook that up later.

What is slowing me up is living 3 hours away from where it is located. If I had the garage space down where I am living it probably would be done by now. The winch thing I think I got solved thanks to larry's post, I at least of a direction to go in.

Many folks solve the garage problem by renting a storage unit nearby. You would need a garage for a drivable unit anyway during the winter.

I dont remember the number but it is a civvy one. The whole winch is. My pto is a ramsey duel output, single shifter. It did come out of an m38 so I know it will work

My M38 had a civvy ramsey pto on it as well. It has the dual output as well. The PO had done some monstrosity of an exhaust fix on that jeep. I dont know if it would have had clearance problems or not. The only thing orininal on the exhaust was the front pipe out of the manifold. I have a picture of my frame on the photo gallery where you can see the exhaust curving down under the frame about where the pto was.

EDIT I walked back to the shop and got my model number on the pto. Best I can make out on the model tag there are letters stamped on the tag: RTI-J. If anybody knows if that is the model number or not let me know.

The problem is I cant remeber how the exhaust ran on the m38 I took it off, and it is long gone. Parts of it are on Rick L's jeep and some are going on mine.
