M38 windshield measurement.

Post by billybob »

I'm trying to adjust the angle of my windshield. I saw a measurement of 67 1/2" from the top of the windshield to the top of the tailgate. I'm assuming that's from the top inside of both the windshield to the top inside of the tailgate. Is that correct? Thanks a bunch.

I moved your post from our For Sale board to here, the Technical Board. I think you'll stand a better chance of getting a useful answer here.

You realize that the measurement you are asking about can vary 3 - 5" either way depending on the jeep's handling history, windshield condition and gasket thickness?

A better way to determine if the windshield is carrying the correct angle is to install soft top steel rodding and see if the doors hang right.

The vertical rod at the rear of the door opening should be a straight up and down (90 Deg's to the side top edge)).

As always, Thanks Wesk. I'll try that. It's the original frame with a new rubber seal.

They all get bent a wee bit from folks grabbing the top of the windshield to ease their entry and exit from the front seats. To check just get a straight edge IE yardstick or 30" level and check it against the front side of the windshield's side uprights.
