WTB: M38 top bow/mounting hardware/loops

Post by Daveyboy »

A little insight on this “project”:

Own a 51 cj3a and want to add a M38 canvas top. So the body has no brackets or holes even for said top.
Now that said, this is NOT going to be any show queen. It’s simply a functional
Top in place that looks half way decent when installed.
I already purchased an original used top reasonably priced.

Now I am in need of the body brackets/mounting pieces from an M38 body to mount a set of top bows.
Yes. I know the entire set is available from many repop suppliers.
Hoping someone salvaged a set of parts from an otherwise un-usable tub and saved? Otherwise I’ll get the set of reproduction

Heck I’ll even take just the center bracket that holds the bows up and in place.

Also need the footman loops for the canvas straps as I have none of those either.

In addition to the top hardware, I’m in need of a set of bows. Now. I got a great set I can buy, but with all things huge, shipping is more than the price of the bows being offered!!

So hoping for one of two things:

A- an original set someone has close by (I live in south east oklahoma) that has a set I can actually drive to get
My zip is 74574, Tuskahoma OK
willing to drive a few hours/200 miles maybe to get

Or

B- someone has a beat up rusted or damaged set that I could spend some time welding and replacing sections in. In this case, the bows could be cut (gasp!) for shipping in a smaller (read that as “reasonable”) shipping cost!

And I guess there is a third option of me actually making my own set
From scratch. I mean how hard can it be with thin wall steel tubing and a bender, welder and flattening the ends and drilling?

If anyone can help with either scenario listed, even someone who did make their own, please let me know!

Thank you all

I think Mullins in College Station has about everything you need. He recently bought a lot of NOS stuff from a supplier in LA. If you are in SE OK College Station isn't that bad a drive.
