Seat Question?

Are all seats (Front) the same size?

I am going to go with foam rubber temporarily on my seats and went to test fit the foam I bought and the seat covers (new) that came with the jeep, seem small. At least on the seat portion. The seat panels that the springs mount to are 18" x 15 1/2" and the covers are just under that... Trying to figure out if the PO bought the right covers for an M-38A1...

I need to rebuild the seat cushions and needed something to sit on a temp basis to allow me to sit in the seat.

Hi Hal,
Not sure if this helps answer the question or not, but according to the ORD9's for both M38A1 and M38 --- both books list the same part number for the cushion and the same part number for the seat pan on both the driver and passenger seats. Both seats on both jeeps use the same cushion and the same seat pan.

On my M38 I have a pair of very nice OD canvas seat covers from WeeBeeWebbing on their foam cores sitting on 3/4-inch plywood pans. If it helps, I can measure them for you.

I think I got it worked out, got the covers on, the layer of Green Horse hair and fiber filler in. Then I used the 3" semi Hard foam and was able to get the seats put together. Was even able to use the triangular pieces cut in the bottom of the pan to hold them on.

Only problem was I had to do each seat twice as I put the pans in 180 out... The first time...

Got the drivers seat ready to go, waiting on the JB weld to set to hold the weld nut I put in the door area to secure the 4th hole for the seat...

This is what comes of getting a jeep in pieces and have to put it together. Just like a 3D puzzle. Try parts and then move then when things do not fit...
