M38A1 Differential ID Tag

Post by jtpasto »

I have a 1953 M38A1. The front and rear differentials have metal identification tags attached to the cover plates. These identification tags have:

43
___

8

Forty three over eight. What does this mean, what is it telling me?

43 teeth on the Ring Gear and 8 teeth on the Pinion

43 divided by 8 = 5.38 gear ratio.
