M-38A1 E-Brake Bolts

Post by OKCM38CDN »

I have been going over my M-38A1 fixing little things, leaks in the Fuel Lines, adjusting brakes and clutch. And I noticed that I have put the Emergency Brake on the output of the transfer case wrong, simple mistake.

Now that I am getting down to the details, this is an easy fix. I do have one question and the reason I put it on the way I did. The 4 bolts that hold the e-brake drum on fit nicely against the output flange thus preventing them from moving. What prevents them from moving when the other way...

OK folks, Dump me; sitting here typing this and glancing at the SNL, I realized my own question is irrelevant, the same flange holds the bolts in place. Sometimes it takes a while for the information and obvious answer to sink into the brain matter to make sense...

I hate getting old, the aches and pains and the slowness of the mind on some days...

Read and get a good laugh. Just remember your time is coming if not already here... :-)

Hi Hal,
I rely on pictures, photos, drawings, and diagrams --- a lot. I'm 66 myself and it helps manage my half-heimers (Can't Remember Stuff half the time). That, and plenty of pencil notes in the margins of most all my TM's. And I appreciate being able to ask questions in this forum when I can't figure something out, including the helpful answers from the regulars, including Wes straightening me out when I'm stoopid.

I always heard from old-timers that getting old isn't for sissy's. Hopefully, I'll have another 10 or 20 years to figure it out.
