65th anniversary of the battle of Dieppe

Post by M38CDNBill »

Hello All,

Here are some pictures of the parade and the ceremony of remembrance of the 65th anniversary of the battle of Dieppe which took place to Longueuil on south of Montreal. Everything was very well and the beautiful temperature was with us. We were fifteen WWII & M series vehicles and it's a record of all time for this type of demonstrations in Quebec. Our vehicles behaved marvelously without any mechanical problems and the veterans really appreciated to walk in these old always loyal and reliable jeeps.

We also made very beautiful meetings and we discussed a lot with many WWII & Korean veterans. The parade, the colourful servicemen, the music, the ceremomie, the cocktail, everything was very well.

Looks like a very beautiful day and town to drive in. Who are the M38 owners in photos #4 and #5?

Hi Wes,

In the photo no 4, the owner is Sylvain Daigle and in the photo no 5, the owner is Guy Malette (M38CDNGUY on this forum). However, the driver is not Guy but rather François Cliche, a Willys MB owner.

I agree 100%.

Try to keep in mind that the average ages of our veterans are:

WWII-82
Korea-72
Vietnam-60
Gulf 1-37
Gulf 2-25

Gentlemen: Keeping in mind what we all said in our responses to this topic, I just got back from a funeral for a 38 year old PA. State Trooper who was also a Master Sergeant in the PA National Guard. His name was Scott Bell and he was killed in an ambush on his Humvee convoy on August 27 in Afganistan. He leaves behind a wife and two small children. From what I heard in his eulogy, he was good trooper and soldier. He died trying to care for his wounded buddies. God Bless him and all our troops who are fighting to keep us safe.
