What are the settings for the fuel float?
1/4"...
Best to use a 1/4" drill bit as a guage...

O K I recived the new float valve and installed it. The 1/4 inch that your refering to, is that before or after depression of the valve and where do you adjust it , on the stem or on the tab between the pivot yoke. I still belive that it is not set correctly because I can not get it to idle down. By the way the float valve that I replaced was no where idendical to the one I recived. The one I recived is the correct one. The differance is that the one that I replaced has a hex on it to install and the one I recived is for screw driver instalation. Thanks Frank

Well I did everything I could with this carb, it's still giving trouble. All the previous problems are gone but now I can't get the RPM's down. It now pulsates up and down. (I wounder if it's a linkage thing) It is most noticeable at a stop and between gear shifting. I put in a new float vale and installed a new gasket. I also set the float 1/4 inch. I adjusted the fuel mixture. Still nothing.

Hi Wes, a question on float level adjustment. Sometimes I see it listed
as 1/4 inch and sometimes 9/64 inch. That's quite a difference. Do you
know which is correct and why the change? Thanks, Sam

the 1/4" setting is for the M38's YS637S and the 9/64" setting is for the M38A1's YS950S.

Sorry I missed your second question.
The F134 gets it extra 12 HP from it's ability to breath better and move more fuel thru the induction system so it's carb the YS950S needs to maintain a higher fuel level in the bowl.

After you stated the correct measurements the light bulb in my hard
head turned on I realized the reasoning. Of course the MC is adjusted
to 9/64 and the MD is 1/4 so that will give me something to do in the
shop on this windy chilly day.

You have it backwards MC is 1/4" and MD is 9/64"...
