New M38A1C Project
New Member on board. I'm a volunteer with the Camp Roberts Historical Museum, located near Paso Robles, CA. and we are now in possession of an M38A1C, S/N MD 21817, Hood number ????2773 so far, built 9/52. It was purchased out of Grand Forks, ND and it has its share of holes and some cancer, well maybe more than some. Not a runner, though the original engine is in it. So far as can be determined from the faded OD and over sprayed yellow paint, it once belonged to the North Dakota/Minnesota National Guard's 47th Infantry Division, The Viking Division. Once completed it will be the mount for the Museum's M27 Recoilless Rifle. I'll post some photos soon. If you live in the area, come on by and check it out.

Welcome!!
I can shed some light on your hood registration number. I have quite a few registration numbers for the M38A1s for 9/52. The first 3 digits will be 209XXXXX. Within a 4000 block of M38A1s the registration numbers start with 2096XXXX. You know your last 4 digits which are the most important numbers. Also, the last 4 digits of your number falls inline with the other registration numbers above and below your M38A1.
Your registration number most likely is 20962773. You may want to take a second look at your number and see you can make out the outline of a 6.
Looking foward to seeing pictures as you move through your restoration.
