Maybe it's just me? Kind of quiet around here lately.....wonder why that is.......8O.....

Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of photos of the more that I dig into the M38 that I bought (when I was a real babe in the woods ) the more I find that ain't. Many thanks to the guidance to rely on manuals and many contributing posts in this forum that cause me <now> to never assume anything is right without solid evidence proving otherwise. Experience is becoming my best teacher (next to Wes).

So I discover I have a wore out 9-1/4 inch (OAL, ignore the ruler in the photo) clutch pedal link rod, the one with both ends bent 90-degrees and drilled for cotter pins. Research told me the 9-1/4 inch rod is for a T84 transmission --- go ahead and hammer me if I'm mistaken. The ruler told me it was pretty easy to see that it sure isn't the right length for the M38 T90 rod --- or the MWO G1-W88 modification that put clevis ends on it.

So....I cut the ends off the wore-out rod, still straight and plenty long enough to thread the ends to make a rod compliant with the MWO ORD W88 dimensions (adjustable to 10-1/2 inches). Common hardware store clevis were $5 each. I wish everything I discover was that cheap to fix! :D

In case you were wondering, I already replaced the other wore-out parts that were responsible for all that pedal slop.... :D

Amazingly enough, with all of the ahem, modifications done to mine over the years that weren’t stock or MWO, mine had this rod replacement.

However, it didn’t keep Bubba from riding around the ranch resting his size 12 lefty on the clutch pedal until he fried the throwout bearing...........
