RT-70 radio power cord.

Post by billybob »

Does anyone know where I can find a power cord for a RT-70 radio? I've looked everywhere. Thanks.

The RT70 is usually associated with a complete radio setup and knowing which set number will help determining which power supply it is mated to and which power cord is needed. For example it may be part of a VRC-7 setup or a GRC6 setup. It is usually piggy backed on an amplifier AM65 Grc.

There was only one power cord for the RT70.The CX1209 cable connected the RT70 to the CY590 battery box.The VRC7 uses the AM65 to power the RT70.

This states there are two different power cords for the RT-70!?! One when the RT-70 is used with the CY590 Battery Box and another when used with the AM65 in the VRC-7.

Image
With the VRC-7 the power cable is CX-1213/U

Image
With the PRC-16 the power cable is the CX-1209/U

Image
With the GRC-4 the power cable for the RT-70 is the CX-1213/U

Note: these cables often have other duties in addition to supplying power:
CX-1213/U Special Purpose Cable Assembly - connection between RT-70/GRC and AM-65/GRC
In this case this cable assy. carries the power to the RT-70 from the AM65's internal power supply and the amplifier functions from the AM65.
CX-1209/U Power Cable Assembly
In this case this cable assy's only duty is carrying power.

It's simple semantics.
