Fuel tank vent

Post by JeepdaddyRC »

1952 M38A1, no longer has fording equipment. The fuel cap is currently non venting style. Ordered NOS vent/non vent style.
The original fording line to tank has been removed. The fitting on top of tank appears to be open. I can smell gas fumes coming from under the seat.
With a new venting cap, can this be plugged? If so, what is correct fitting?
I'm afraid Wes will say rebuild the lines and vent back to the air clear.
Just trying to get rid of the gas fumes.

The late M38A1 tanks used the vent shown. If you want to gas smell gone run the old style tube.
